About
About this tool
A plain-language overview of what this site does, who it is for, and how it should be used.
What this site does
Priority Date is a forward-looking planning tool for employment-based green card applicants. Enter your category (EB-1, EB-2, or EB-3), country of chargeability, and priority date. The tool projects when your date may become current and estimates the overall path from today to green card issuance.
Who it is for
This tool is designed for employment-based green card applicants who want a clearer sense of where they are in the queue and how long the process may take. It is particularly useful for long-backlog categories such as EB-2 India and EB-3 India, where waits can span many years and planning ahead is important.
Data source
All estimates are based on Final Action Dates from the U.S. Department of State Visa Bulletin. The Visa Bulletin is published monthly by the Department of State and is the authoritative source for employment-based and family-based visa cutoff dates.
How often is data updated?
The Visa Bulletin is updated monthly. The data in this tool should be updated each month to reflect the latest bulletin. The calculator displays the bulletin date it is using so you can verify you are working with current information.
What this tool does not do
This tool does not access USCIS case status systems, process any personal data, or make guarantees about processing times. It does not account for individual case factors such as requests for evidence, USCIS service center workload changes, or policy updates that are not reflected in the Visa Bulletin.
The estimates provided are projections based on historical date movement patterns. Actual outcomes may differ significantly from projections.
Methodology note
The tool calculates the average monthly advancement rate for a given category and country over recent Visa Bulletin data. It uses this rate, along with variation in that rate, to produce optimistic, median, and pessimistic estimates for when a given priority date will reach the current Final Action Date cutoff. Post-current processing time estimates use general historical ranges for adjustment of status cases.
Disclaimer
This tool is for informational purposes only. It is not legal advice and should not be relied upon as a substitute for the advice of a qualified immigration attorney. Immigration processes are complex, and individual circumstances vary. Always verify current Visa Bulletin data directly with the U.S. Department of State before making any filing decisions.
